project scope 500 ha.

The Dutch winter weather often provides ample opportunity for skating. Sometimes, however, nature needs a helping hand. This ice rink uses very little energy to finish nature's work. In our design, we sought an energy balance: as the ice is cooled, the residual heat released is used in the changing rooms.

As the world's foremost ice skating nation, the Netherlands will be the first to carry out a project of this type. The ice course will have a length of no less than 5 km and will allow visitors to enjoy the pleasures of skating outdoors in autumn and winter. The sports complex will be multifunctional, allowing other activities such as inline skating, handbiking, cycling and various equestrian sports to be undertaken outside the ice skating season.
