The municipality of Helmond retained DHV to produce an urban area development plan for the eastern section of the town's canal zone.
The plan called for spatial restructuring of the quays and construction of a harbor area and two bridges. As a result of the redevelopment, Helmond now has a high quality public space and a strong link between the town's different districts. The visual appeal and the intensive use made of the canal zone (sidewalk cafés) improve the quality of stay in Helmond's city center.
